Lip Tips
Three-dimensional lips are always in...give yourself the big pouty. To design this look you will need a lip liner, lipstick, and a gloss.

First lets talk about lip liners...lip liners are awesome. You can change the hue of any lip color whether it be a gloss or a stick with a lip liner. I love them. When you travel and want to pack lightly you can use two or three lip liners and one stick or gloss.

Here’s how it works. A lip liner is a necessary tool because first it defines your lips. It accentuates all the positives and can correct the negatives.

Basic tips are easy.
Start with a sharp point. Make an X in the middle of the lips under your nose at the bow of your lip. Take the tip of that X and draw a line to your corners then swoop around the bottom.

For a lip that has a small upper lip then line slightly on the outside edge. Try using a color that is the same depth as your natural lip color so that it will create width. Artistic rule: light brings out dark recedes.

This tip also applies to misshapen lips you correct the shape by using colors close to the depth of the lip. Fill in the area from the line to the lip with the color pencil so as to create a new lip area. THIS IS NOT TO SAY that you have to match the color of your lip just the depth. In other words if your lips are peachy pink you can use a brown, a peach, a pink, a red, just find one the same depth as your lip.

Moving on...if your lip is very large on the bottom you can do a couple of things. One is to line slightly on the inside of the lip. The other is to line slightly on the inside of the lip using a slightly deeper color than your natural lip area and either fill the entire bottom lip in with lip liner or stipple the lip liner as to create a slightly deeper bottom lip. To stipple is to make tiny little lines of color.

For the three-dimensional look just:
1. lip line
2. lipstick
3. gloss
